BING RELEASES A NEW INDEXNOW PLUGIN FOR WORDPRESS
The IndexNow API, which debuted in October 2021, is the next evolution of the Bing URL submissions API which was created by Microsoft Bing and Yandex. In July 2020, Bing released its first official plugin for WordPress allowing site owners to submit URLs and get their content indexed immediately.IndexNow is a new protocol created by Microsoft Bing and Yandex, allowing websites to easily notify search engines whenever their website content is created, updated, or deleted. By using an API, search engines are notified of updates that reflect website changes in their index and search results. IndexNow is an initiative for a more efficient and open Internet. By notifying one search engine, all other search engines that have adopted IndexNow. Google is testing the protocol to see whether it makes a more sustainable approach for indexing the web. As of January 7th, there have been 800 active installations for the IndexNow Plugin.Â
